Context
A retail renovation to an early 20th century supermarket on historic upper Congress St. in the heart of Portland.
Response
An extremely tight budget and schedule led to a concentration on interior function and form, with exterior design limited to rehabilitation of the masonry exterior and signage.
The signage and awnings are dramatic perforated sheet metal clipped on steel frames to the facade. Parametric modeling created pricing and shop drawings directly from the design model, allowing maximum creative expression and transformation of the building on a limited budget.
