Sebago Camp

Context
A classic but tired camp directly on Lake Sebago was on the end of its life. The owners desired a new structure in the same spot but were constrained by the modest size of what previously stood. The goal was to create a 3-bedroom upscale getaway with room for guests given 1400 feet to work with. Modesty and views were important.
Response
This sleepy structure provides privacy from the public side but opens itself up completely to the light beyond. Transparent corners to the south and east allow the sun to penetrate through the space. Clever uses of dormers allowed this house to make use of every square foot of space as livable, sliding just under its restrictive volume limitations. Kitchen windows just above the counter allow for storage in the small space while still providing light and ventilation.
Budget / Economy
As the owner acted as general contractor, this home was constructed for just over $150/SF.
Energy Efficient
Due to the blown-in cellulose insulation and the fact the almost every cubic foot of this camp is useable space, it is a very efficient structure.
