A few of Paige's projects

Paige Bechtle attended Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where she earned her Bachelor of Interior Architecture in 2019 and Master of Interior Architecture in 2021. She also received a minor in Photography, allowing for captivating documentation of her time spent studying abroad in Florence, Italy. Upon completing her undergraduate program, Paige was awarded the Edward Gayeski medal for Excellence in Design and went on to serve as an adjunct professor at the University – teaching a foundation level studio for architecture and interior students – while earning her graduate degree.
Throughout her education, Paige worked for a full-service interior architecture studio, first as an intern and eventually as a part-time designer. A demanding weekday schedule bounced her between school, work, and her home in nearby New Jersey but, as we very quickly learned, her energy far outpaced her obligations. For several years, she traveled to New England nearly every weekend in search of a challenging hike, the perfect campsite, or a cup of coffee with friends.
In late 2023, Paige finally made the move to Maine, both to be closer to her favorite national Park (Acadia) and to join the team at Kaplan Thompson Architects as an Interior Designer. “With a background in both interior architecture and fine arts, I come equipped with a thorough design process. Above all, I value human scale within the built environment. I aim to bring a narrative to every project that considers all scales of interaction throughout an interior. Be it the height of a ceiling condition, or the dimension and materiality of door hardware – I love a full circle concept,” she says. Her favorite design elements are found in the details and ways in which they speak to one another. “Moments of tangible communication between materials or forms, no matter how small, make some of the largest impressions.” Paige was also drawn to our team’s focus on environmental sustainability and loves finding ways in which her personal practices of conscious sourcing and mindful consumption can be applied to projects.
We have never seen Paige on a weekend, but imagine if you look for the tallest mountains or best swimming holes in the state, you will find her there, sipping an espresso and rocking a 90’s-inspired ‘fit. As a dedicated weightlifter, she may also be strongest person on our team, and quite kindly manages the heaviest samples in our materials library.
